UniProtKB description: Aldehyde ferredoxin oxidoreductase with a broad substrate specificity (PubMed:1907273, PubMed:8390467). Catalyzes the oxidation of a range of aliphatic aldehydes to their corresponding carboxylic acids (PubMed:1907273, PubMed:8390467). In vitro can use crotonaldehyde, acetaldehyde, formaldehyde, butyraldehyde or glyceraldehyde as substrate, using methyl viologen or ferredoxin, but not NAD(P), as the electron acceptor (PubMed:1907273, PubMed:8390467). Does not oxidize glucose or glyceraldehyde 3-phosphate (PubMed:1907273). May be involved in a pyroglycolytic pathway (PubMed:1907273).
